
Ray Mendoza is a former Navy SEAL who has developed a filmmaking career as a military advisor, producer, and director. Mendoza began his feature film production career as a military advisor on the theatrical feature Act of Valor (2012), co-starring Alex Vado, Roselyn Sanchez, and Nestor Serrano under the co-direction of Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh.

The Rod Laurie-directed Afghanistan War-set The Outpost (2019), with Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom. Director/writer Alex Garland’s dystopian thriller, Civil War (2024), stars Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, and Nick Offerman.
Mendoza made his feature debut as co-director/co-writer (with Alex Garland) of the war movie, Warfare (2025), based on Mendoza’s experiences as a U.S. Navy SEAL in the Iraq War and starring D’Pharoah Woon-A-Tai and Will Poulter, and released wide by A24.
