Amalia Ulman is a filmmaker and multi-media artist who began her feature film career after having established herself as an internationally exhibited artist in various disciplines including video, social media, photography, sculpture, and has been acclaimed as the first social network-based artist shown in major institutional galleries and museums like the Tate Modern, as well as major shows like the Frieze Art Fair.

Ulman shifted to filmmaking with her first feature, the absurdist black-and-white comedy set in Ulman’s hometown of Gijon, Spain, El Planeta (2021), in which Ulman was director/writer/producer and lead actor, with Ulman’s actual mother, Ale, and Nacho Vigalondo, and which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and released by Utopia after winning several major festival awards.

Ulman shifted to her native Argentina for her second feature as director/writer, Magic Farm (2025), with Guillermo Jacubowicz, Joe Apollonio, Chloë Sevigny, Alex Wolff, and Simon Rex, and premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival before theatrical release by Mubi, which co-produced with Tango Entertainment, Icki Eneo Arlo, REI Cinema, and Spacemaker Productions.
